Sunyoung Lee began violin lessons at seven and continued her studies at Manhattan School of Music, completing Bachelor's and Master's Degrees as a scholarship student. She has won top prizes in several national competitions in her native country. She has participated in various master classes by Pamela Frank, Arnold Steinhardt, Sheryl Staples, Hiroko Yajima, and Sadao Harada. In 2004, at the Tanglewood Music Festival, she served as a concertmaster under Maestro Kurt Mazur. She also participated in the Music Masters Course in Kazusa , Japan and Aspen Music Festival. She has given solo recitals and chamber music concerts in the Tri-State area, Europe and Asia, including Carnegie Hall, Seiji Ozawa Hall, Howland Cultural Center , WCO Chamber Specials at Holy Cross Church in Kingston , Lillian Fuchs Memorial Chamber Music Concert and Korean Cultural Center Chamber Music Concert. Her principal teachers are Yoko Takebe, Michael Gilbert, and Lisa Kim of the New York Philharmonic. She was a member of the Hartford Symphony Orchestra in Connecticut and a member of Asian Artists & Concerts, Inc.(AAC). Currently, she plays in the Hudson Valley Philharmonic, the Greater Newburgh Symphony and the Opera Company of the Highlands . |
